Primary Care Trusts (PCT) BETA

Introduction: (Source: .)

Experience: Here is a list of all PCT's people have had an encounter with and the subsequent experience.

South Staffordshire: (updated 09.01.2008)
Currently undecided over funding. They are looking into it and should know by the end of January.

North Staffordshire: (updated 08.02.2008)
They only give funding to "exceptional cases" which can prove the following:
- the request is not about introducing a new treatment for a definable group (however small). Such cases are considered as service developments and should be prioritised through the Delivery Plan process.
- the patient is significantly different to the general population with the condition in question.
- the patient is likely to gain significantly more benefit from the intervention than might be expected for the average patient with the condition.
Their their policy also states:
"The fact that a treatment is likely to be efficacious for a patient is not, in itself, a basis for exceptionality ie if a patients clinical condition matches the "accepted indications" for a treatment that is not funded, they are, by definition, not exceptional."
